Waiward began work at Horizon with smaller pre-turnaround projects in January and February, that later evolved into working across the entire plant site, for multiple business units, with over 200 craftworkers beginning in late March and through to April.
Sustaining Capital – Primary & Secondary Upgrading Scope
Building off the successful completion of the Coker Switch Deck work in 2020, Waiward was once again engaged to support the SCP-PUG / SUG group during the Spring Turnaround. We performed the following:
- Train 2A & 2B coke chute replacement
- Train 2A & 2B North Wall cladding replacement
- G2 structural steel installation
- Plant 45 piping removal and reinstallation
- Plant 45 structural removal and reinstallation
- G56 pipe strain structural installation
- Train 3A & 3B Ohmstede and bud frame support removal and reinstallation
- Train 3A coke drum realignment
This scope was particulary challenging given rapid mobilization required to complete it. With the support of our entire team, we were able to successfully complete 30,000+ man hours of work with no lost time injuries or significant safety events.
