Waiward Continues to Develop with Switchback OS

Waiward Continues to Develop with SwitchbackOS

August 31, 2021

Recently, Waiward conducted three separate sessions for the corporate and site leadership teams for the SwitchbackOS training. The training was led by Steven Falk (author of the book called The Switched-On CEO). Steven and his team did an excellent job in the sessions which focused on Safety, Teamwork, Leadership, Communication, and Resilience skills.

In the training program, an emphasis on teaching people to think differently coached our leaders to stop overreaction and provided them with an understanding on how our un-managed memories are obstacles when achieving success. The discussion about how to improve relationships dynamics that are “stuck in a loop” provided our team solutions to analyze their personal habits and how they affect their actions and thought processes. Other key outcomes our team gained are self-awareness, neuroplasticity training (changing how your brain responds to stress), and increased communication skills.

With the positive momentum the SwitchbackOS program brings it will continue to build our organizations resiliency as a stronger workforce. Our leaders are now supported with new tools so they can better understand their own way of thinking. Our team continued with positive discussions and are in the development of integrating the new insight and knowledge into Waiward’s Safety Culture.

“Culture is created by people and established by leaders”

May 5, 2021

Toronto, ON — May 5, 2021 – Waiward Industrial LP was recognized for overall business performance and sustained growth with the prestigious Canada’s Best Managed Companies designation. The 2021 Best Managed program award winners are amongst the best-in-class of Canadian owned and managed companies with revenues over $25 million demonstrating leadership in the areas of strategy, capabilities and innovation, culture and commitment, and financials to achieve sustainable growth. Now in its 28th year, Canada’s Best Managed Companies remains one of the country’s leading business awards programs recognizing Canadian-owned and managed companies for innovative, world-class business practices. Every year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the caliber of their management abilities and practices.

Waiward has yet again continued its progressive growth orientated business practices during these unprecedented times that the pandemic has brought over the past year. This achievement is showcased with the addition of a new Peddibot to the fabrication shop, the business Waiward has maintained and acquired, and the relationships Waiward continues to strengthen and build with their clients and partnerships.

“Once again, we are proud to receive this designation. It demonstrates our commitment as team and the continued growth and strength at Waiward. This year brought change and disruption that we were not expecting and stayed true to our core values, as a team and embraced it. I commend our team at Waiward for their continuous hard work and appreciate every contribution that is made.” states Andy Brooks, President and CEO of Waiward Industrial LP.

“To become a Best Managed Platinum Club winner is nothing short of remarkable. Their continued adaptability in an era of uncertainty sets the standard for how to overcome new barriers and demonstrate resilience at the highest levels,” said Peter Brown, Partner, Deloitte Private and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program. “This year’s Platinum Club winners are the Canadian cornerstone for outstanding business in 2021.”

Applicants are evaluated by an independent judging panel comprised of representatives from program sponsors in addition to special guest judges. 2021 Best Managed companies share commonalities that include (but are not limited to) enabling a remote workforce, making employee health a top priority, acting with an increased sense of purpose and social responsibility, and a significantly heightened focus on cash flow.

“CIBC is proud to be a sponsor of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, which celebrates the tremendous achievements of our country’s leading organizations across a wide array of industries”, said Dino Medves, Senior Vice President and Head, CIBC Commercial Banking.  “And in light of this past year, these winners were not only able to weather the immediate challenges of the pandemic, but in this new disruptive environment were able to set a course for future growth and investment.”

2021 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award will be honoured at a virtual gala. The Best Managed virtual symposium will address leading-edge business issues that are key to the success of today’s business leaders.
